Participants of the meeting deem it necessary to continue working over ensuring more effective cooperation between Ukraine and the WTO for Ukraine to adhere to its obligations as a member state of this organization and strengthen practical use of all the existing WTO mechanisms and tools to promote and protect national trade and economic interests of Ukraine.
Opening hearings, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Valentyn Nalyvaichenko noted that the task of the Verkhovna Rada is to assist Ukrainian producers with expert bills promoting Ukrainian export and world market access.
“We stand for domestic producers to receive new market outlets. That is why, we should understand how to use multilateral mechanisms, provided by the WTO,” stressed the people’s deputy.
According to V.Nalyvaichenko, “it is extremely important not to lose chances of national economy at the stage of formation of the Euro-Atlantic Free Trade Zone. That is why it is necessary to use the historic moment and while establishing such free trade zone, in which the EU and the United States are both interested, Ukraine should be among the first one to access”.
The people’s deputy believes that functioning of the free trade zone with the Russian Federation on equal conditions, without exclusions and restrictions is not less important for Ukrainian economy.
According to information provided in the report of the Government Commissioner on Matters of European Integration Valeriy Pyatnytskyi, attention of the participants of hearings was attached to the fact that WTO membership opened new opportunities for Ukraine: conclusion of new agreements and approach new markets.
Apart form this, according to him, WTO membership has opened multifold possibilities to hold consultations and settle disputes with our traditional trade partners.
